Mini Biografia:
Main research interests: yeast physiology, evolution and metabolic engineering. More recently, Andreas has also been active on promoting science for the general public, especially for children and teenagers, with the aim of increasing the capacity of people to discriminate between real facts and fake news throughout their lives. Andreas works as an associate professor at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil and has recently (January to December 2019) been on a sabbatical leave as visiting scholar at Harvard
University, in the group of Prof. Michael Desai (Department of organismic and evolutionary biology). Andreas obtained his M.Sc., Ph.D. and Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. During his career, he had the opportunity to work with Prof. Jens Nielsen at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), with Prof. Lucília Domingues at the University of Minho (Portugal), and with Profs. Jean-Marc Daran and Jack Pronk at the Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). Andreas has (co-)authored several scientific articles published in international indexed journals (> 2300 citations; H-index 27; SCOPUS) and has recently joined the editorial board of FEMS Yeast Research.
