Promoção, Realização e Organização:
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP, www.fapesp.br/en
) is sponsoring an “Advanced School on the Present and Future of Bioenergy”, which will take place at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), in Campinas, Brazil, between October 10 and 17, 2014.
Such Advanced Schools are not regular scientific conferences (for a list of all Advanced Schools already sponsored by FAPESP, please see www.fapesp.br/en/7800
). Their purpose is to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young researchers, from Brazil and abroad, to learn about advanced topics in different areas of knowledge.
In the particular case of this “Advanced School on the Present and Future of Bioenergy”, FAPESP will bring together reknown lecturers which are specialists in the different areas that fall within the broad scope of Bioenergy (see preliminary program above). The event will host 120 students from all over the world and there will be opportunities for strong interaction among participants and also to visit research institutions and industries in the state of São Paulo that are actively involved in Bioenergy.
Applications will be open for undergraduate and graduate students and young researchers (until 5 years after obtaining the PhD title) from all countries, from April 16 until June 27, 2014. By July 10, 2014, selected candidates will be informed about their acceptance, so that they have 3 months time to make the necessary arrangements to come to Brazil. In case a person is selected to attend this Advanced School, FAPESP will cover travel and lodging costs during the time of the School.
Application and Selection Criteria
Elegibility criteria: Participants should be able to prove that they are enrolled at a university as an undergraduate student or as a (post-)graduate student. Some young researchers, having received their Ph.D. title no longer than 5 years before October 2014, will also be considered for participation. Candidates that do not fill in the form completely or do not provide all the necessary documents will not be considered in the selection procedure. Up to 120 candidates will be selected for the course, roughly 50% from Brazil and 50% from other countries. The official language of the course will be English. For those who are selected, FAPESP will cover plane tickets to Brazil and lodging costs during the days of the event.
We hope you will find this a very exciting opportunity and that you will apply yourself and/or inform your colleagues about this event.
